Ruben Portillio

Ruben began playing guitar at the age of 7. He grew up in Ciudad del Este, Paraguay. Upon finishing high school Ruben taught English for 3 years to save money for his musical education.

Ruben attained an undergraduate scholarship to attend the Peabody Institute at Johns Hopkins University. He has received James Winship Memorial Prize in Performance for good academic standards, and the Randolph S. Rothschild Award for his contributions in the area of guitar performance.

Ruben is currently attending Northwestern University under the instruction of Dr. Anne Waller. He is on track to becoming a professional classical guitarist and educator.
